TXOL'S
BARRACUDA SPAM FIREWALL FAQ
Q: What is the “Barracuda SPAM Firewall?”
A: The Barracuda is a new server, recently
acquired and setup to work at TXOL Internet for the purpose of
increasing our level of resolution to fight SPAM (unwanted,
unsolicited emails). This unit screens all incoming email destined to
our customers’ email inboxes, and checks it for viruses, worms, and
SPAM oriented email before it even gets to your inbox.
The Barracuda inserts itself, as an email
monitoring system, between the Internet and the mail server containing
your email box. In this way, it is able to screen out SPAM related
email and dispose of it without bothering the email server. Since the
barracuda unit is a highly specialized and dedicated equipment solely
designed for this purpose, it is an extremely efficient machine that
is helping organizations of all sorts to eliminate a high percentage
of SPAM related email.
The Barracuda unit is not, therefore, where your
email box resides, it is just a temporary place where the end user can
easily monitor email traffic passing through, attempting to be
delivered to his/her email box.

Q: Why are you changing from the other
filtering service to
Barracuda SPAM Firewall?
A: We opted to go with a in house
system to have better control of what was being filtered.
Q: I had already created a large number of
Approved senders / Block senders in old filtering service and really don't want to
go through adding all those email addresses again, what can TXOL
Internet do to help me with that?
A: To make it easier for present
customers, TXOL Internet retrieved the Approved
senders list (White list) and the Blocked
senders list (Black List) from the other service and uploaded them into the
Barracuda SPAM Firewall.
Q: I'm a new customer to TXOL Internet and
while I can log into the Barracuda SPAM Firewall I don't see anything
being filtered out, what is up with that?
A: Your account has not been created in the
Barracuda SPAM Firewall. This requires another user outside of TXOL
Internet to send you an email or while you are logged into the
Barracuda SPAM firewall save your Settings / Preferences to add your
account.
Q: What do I need, to start using
the the Barracuda SPAM Firewall?
A: Click the TXOL Internet Submit link at
the top of this page to choose the settings you want us to change for
you. Below is the overview for adjusting your the filtering
settings yourself. After reading you can click on the Administrative
Login at the top of the page to login.

(default)
0 = Quarantined 10 = Not Quarantined - 4.5 (default)
0 = Blocked 10 = Not Blocked - 7 recommended (default)
TXOL Internet has set the Global setting as follows

addresses that you allow to enter your email box.
*Block senders / Black list are email
addresses that you do not want coming to your email box.
FILTERED MESSAGES
All messages falling within the filter or virus constraints are
considered suspicious emails and are quarantined and held in
a temporary quarantine server mailbox. All quarantined messages
are kept for 30 days before automated deletion. If you would
like to view, deliver, or manually delete such messages, you
will only be allowed to do such by using the administrative login
link provided below. If you feel that you are not receiving emails
from someone, this is the first place you need to check. There
will be circumstances where you will need to specifically approve
certain senders that for whatever reason the filter is seeing
as suspicious. Any and all manual inputs for approving or blocking
will override the filtering service.
